Hey everyone! I've posted on several gynecology boards and thought I might try this one, being as I'm unsure which one I should post this question on.

Since April 2006 I've have severe burining and pain with sex. While I had a period, my periods were also painful and I had severe cramping. I've gone back on my Depo shot since this time.

Anyway, I FINALLY convinced my GYN to give me another Pap smear... my fifth in a year. Sure enough, this time he FINALLY found something. I have high and low risk HPV with cervical dysplasia. He took a biopsy during the colposcopy and we're waiting on the results. He also put me on some more antibiotics (in a year, I've been on Flagyl twice, Metro-Gel, repHresh, doxycycline, metronidozole, and Cipro) saying that my uterus is still swollen (as it has been the entire time since April).

My question is about PID, which I seem to have all the symptoms of. He hasn't come out and said that I have it, so I will ask him about it when he calls me with the biopsy results this week. I know PID causes sterility. At 22 and a newlywed, this terrifies me. I was wondering how long it takes for sterility to manifest, as I bevelive I've had PID since April and no one has been able to definitively tell me this.

Thanks for the advice, and I do plan on asking my physician some more detailed questions when I talk to him later in the week.

I'm sure that Jill, this board's wonderful Communty Leader, will be along soon to respond to your questions.

Thanks for the information. I had never heard of the procedure you were talking about, and if it comes down to it, I will definitely ask. I read a lot of literature, but it was all really pretty vague.

I will keep everyone updated as soon as I get the call back about my biopsy :)
