It really hurt!

I'm a 20 year old virgin who has a very healthy sexual relationship with her boyfriend.
Let me just say the man is an ace, he used to get me wet with a kiss. Hes not a virgin, but I felt ready to have sex with him after 4 months of dating. But when we tried having sex the pain was horrible.

I have a pretty high pain tolerance and don't appear to have much of a hymen left (tampon use...and yes I'm embarrassed to say I used a mirror to look)...but I can pinpoint why it hurt so badly that I stopped him and started crying.

I'm very embarrassed and want to have sex with my boyfriend badly. Please help?

My boyfriend and I had the exact same problem. It took a long time (a few months) for my boyfriend and i to be able to enjoy sex together. I was worried that there was something wrong with me or that it would always hurt so I talked to my ObGyn. She suggested using more lubricant and taking it slow. we had to be very patient and communicate with eachother through the process. we also tried different positions to find the ones that were most comfortable for both of us. even though it can be very frustrating and emotional, it does get better each time and it will definately be worth it in the long run.

First of all thank you so much for your help:)!

My guy, while he hasn't been tested yet (he was only with one girl back in HS) and I are using condoms...or at least we intend to. Even though I dont think STDs are an issue with him, I still want to protect myself and I have no interest of being a mother this soon >_

I had previous got my pap and was issued a clean bill of genital health prior to my question, but I plan schedule an appt. to ask some questions and get birth control pills possibly.

However, what you told me about tampons , I was very surprised! I had no idea friction can cause tears in the vaginal wall....it makes a bit more sense now to me.

We going to try again soon (when he gets back from college), thank you for all the wonderful help!
