Has anyone had to do a SIS (Saline Infused Sonogram)? We are going through the testing to start a FET, and they want me to come in for one on Monday. I didn't have to do this the last time we did a fresh and FET, so not sure why it's required this time.

I have had one done. During this they just make sure that they can get to your uterus and also do a measuring of the uterus to see where to drop the embies off. Don't know why they didn't do it before, should have been done before your first IVF. The procedure is no big deal. Just like a Pap but a little bit more uncomfortable and wetter.

Good Luck!

I just had mine this week. It's pretty painless (the worst is having a full bladder!) I think it creates a "map" so they know where to best put the embies.

Thanks Chris - guess it's nothing to be worried about. I remember you from before, I'm sorry you are still here, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that this new RE can help you!

Looks like you and I are on the same path - hope we both get those BFPs! I have my test next Monday, the 15th. When is yours scheduled for? I had a c-section as well, so maybe that's why I have to do it this time.

I'm glad they have something you can take to encourage AF to come!

How many totcicles do you have? We have 4 left from before, so plan to do 2 cycles of 2 each (if needed). Any idea what the % is of totcicles that make it out of the thaw? I haven't really thought about that before.

Hi Julie - Had the SIS today. The doctor just uses a speculum to insert a catheter and then saline solution to clean it out and expand the uterus in different directions to look for a smooth wall. Then she did the pelvic ultrasound to look around for any scaring. The cramps were bad, I don't think I was quite prepared for it to be painful, but I guess its all a part of the process. I would say it's similar to the HCG.

So good news is my uterus looked great and they didn't find anything that could impede implantation. However, my husband got his SA back and it's worse than the last time. Now he has about 20k sperm (should be over 20 million) and in the sample, they found 50 and only one was normal. Yuk. Let's just hope this FET works so we don't have to do a fresh cycle.
