Starting IVF in Oct?
Thu, 09-02-2010 - 11:34pm

Hi Ladies,

Well, the time has come...I'm excited and scared, but ready to be a mom more than anything. I'm probably a little early, but wanted to see if there were any potential cycle buddies out there yet. We are getting ready for IVF #1, I will be starting birth control pills later in Sept., probably doing ER at the end of Oct/beginning of Nov. In the meantime, I'm trying to lose a little weight, getting some exercise, and will hopefully be starting acupuncture soon. Here's hoping that IVF does the trick!

Me (36), DH (40) - ttc#1 since 02/08

Seeing RE since 11/08, dx with "unexplained infertility."

2 failed cycles of clomid (12/08, 1/09)

02/09: IUI + femara = BFN

03/09: Femara + IUI on 3/22 + prometrium = BFN

04/09: Femara + IUI (week of 4/21) + prometrium = BFN

05/09: Femara + IUI (u/s and b/w on 5/22) = BFN

6/09: Follistim + HCG + Double IUIs + HCG booster= BFN

7/09: Cycle au naturale  + IUI (7/23) = BFN

8/09: Cycle au naturale; meeting with new RE on 8/19

9/09: Still on break

10/09: Follistim + Ovidrel + IUI; BFP on 11/9/09;  (beta 1-12dpIUI: 37; 14dpIUI: 79; 16dpIUI: 183); First U/S, 11/22 shows 1 gestational sac; 2nd u/s, 6w5days, fetal pole is small, no h/b; 3rd u/s on 12/9, no fetal pole, diagnosed blighted ovum; d &c on 12/18.

1/10: RE appt on 1/6, on break

2/10: break

3/10: break

4/10: planned to do IUI with follistim, cycle cancelled (4 follicles); changed REs

5/10: waiting for AF, decisions about testing and IUI vs. IVF

6/10: hysteroscopy on 6/4, all clear! IUI + Follistim and Ovidrel

Hi Denise!

Sounds like we'll be cycling at pretty much the same time! I'm scheduled to have ER around the end of October and transfer in the beginning of November. I've started BCP and received my calendar... so now the waiting game begins! We cycled in January of 09 and had beginner's luck - my son was born October 15. So we're here ready for round 2!

I'm lurking around here most days, so hopefully we can keep tabs on each other and go through this crazy process together! Let me know if you have questions on anything. I've only been through it once, but would be happy to help in any way I can.

Best of luck with everything, and have a lovely weekend!

Hi Denise and Shannon -
I'm most likely going to be right there with you both! I just had a dr. appt. Friday at the fertility center and assuming we don't conceive this month on our own, at the end of September I'll be starting BC pills and hopefully looking at a transfer by early November the doctor said. I'm excited and nervous, must mostly just want to be a Mom.
Nice to "meet" you both and here's wishing we all have good luck this fall!

Missing our sweet baby Grace Ruth. She was with us for
27 weeks and was due 12.24.09. She could not grow properly due to a placenta
deficiency and though we were closely monitored, there was nothing we could do
to save her. Her heart stopped beating at 1:35 p.m. on Thursday, 09.24.09 and
she was born still at 3:04 a.m. on Sunday, 09.27.09. We buried her on
Saturday, 10.03.09.

Hopeful about IVF round 1 - Nov/Dec 2010 / Forever missing our baby Grace - lost at 27 weeks, Sept. 27, 2009 / First loss shattered our perfect world at 7w3d, Nov. 2008

Hi Beth!

Sorry to hear your August cycle didn't end in a BFP, but I'm hopeful that this time around will work for you!

AF stands for "Aunt Flo" - your period. :) Silly, but true!

Nice to hear from some other October gals as well. Fingers crossed and baby dust to you all!

Hi, everyone. My situation is similar to Beth's. I cycled in August. I got a BFP for my first beta, but then I got a BFN on the second one. I still cry about it now and then, but I am happy to move forward with the one frozen embryo that we have. I just started BCP today, and my transfer will be on October 19th. Looking forward to talking with you all more throughout our cycle.

:) Lynn

Last night was my second night injecting Lupron.

I am an absolute BABY about needles (always have been) and I almost fainted when I opened my box of meds and saw all of those needles! But I was determined to give them myself because I knew I'd be without my husband for many of the shots. I had him stand nearby for the first few times until I felt comfortable, and after a few days, I guess I got used to it. The stim injections I found pretty similar to the Lupron, except the one that seemed to sting a little every time (I think it was the Menopur).

Hang in there, hon! Just stay calm and picture that little bundle of joy waiting at the other end of all the shots! I think after a few days you'll find yourself more confident and you'll feel better about it.

Good luck! Let me know if you have any more questions!
