Starting IVF in Oct?

Hi Ladies,

Well, the time has come...I'm excited and scared, but ready to be a mom more than anything. I'm probably a little early, but wanted to see if there were any potential cycle buddies out there yet. We are getting ready for IVF #1, I will be starting birth control pills later in Sept., probably doing ER at the end of Oct/beginning of Nov. In the meantime, I'm trying to lose a little weight, getting some exercise, and will hopefully be starting acupuncture soon. Here's hoping that IVF does the trick!

I don't mind you asking at all. I believe a full bladder in this case helps them see the uterus better so they know where to put the embryos. For all other u/s we need an empty bladder but I think the bladder helps them see the top of the uterus. I am just guessing here. someone else might know better but I think that is why.

So glad to hear that everything went well! That is so exciting that you had such great embryos. Such great news, and hopefully, this is just the first bit, right?! I am waiting for AF, just finished bcps and tonight is day 5 of Lupron. Hopefully will be starting stims soon. Hope you have a good weekend!

I just had my mock transfer two weeks ago, and I had to have a full bladder. You are exactly right, the full bladder helps them visualize the uterus so that they can place the embryos in the right place.

I think you will have your first acupuncture today. They usually get right into it. There are studies that show increased success rates for IVF using acupuncture so hopefully you'll enjoy it. :)

I did have first accupuncture today, and it was enjoyable:-) I will do it again pre-and post-transfer and probably during 2ww.

I had IVF twice in 2001 and conceived my daughter (now 8) the second time. The issue then was low sperm count. I later divorced and remarried, and my husband of 4 years and I did IVF in Aug. with no pregnancy, and are trying again now. The issues this time are low sperm count and old eggs that don't seem to want to grow. Last time, we transferred 4 embryos, and all were top graded, though none stuck. So, we're hoping these will be even better and stick. Lining has been great both times, so dr. said there was likely a genetic problem we couldn't see last time.
