I HAVE A FRIEND GETTING MARRIED IN OCTOBER. DUE TO STRESS, HER CYCLE HAS CHANGED. HER PERIOD HAS RESCHEDULED ITS VISIT FOR THE WEEK OF THE WEDDING. IS THERE ANYTHING SHE CAN DO MEDICINALLY, HOMEOPATHICALLY (SP?), OR OTHERWISE TO FORCE IT TO COME EARLY, JUST BY A WEEK OR SO?

Hi!

The only thing she can do is start taking some form of hormonal birth control. Then she can extend or skip her period for a month. If she's going to do that, she should start it as soon as possible!

I would recommend that your friend consult with her OB/GYN, she can recommend a method that would be safe and effective for your friend. Some doctors allow a woman to "skip" a period via use of birth control pills. If your friend is on the pill, she can delay her period. Most packs have 3 weeks of hormones and one week of "blanks." Instead of taking the "blanks" at the end of the packet, she would need to start her next packet of pills and continue the packet not stop when the honeymoon is over as that would increase chances of getting pregnant. At the end of the 2nd packet, she would take the blanks as normal and her period would begin. She still needs to consult with her OB/GYN to see if this would be a safe method for her and it is definitely one that should not be repeated more than once a year.

Hope this helps
