irregular period on the pill

Hey everyone. I am 18 and have always had irregular cycles... they tend to last anywhere from eighteen to thirty days. I have been on the pill since I was fifteen, and my periods have still been irregular.... ranging from light enough for a panty liner to extremely heavy, but I have minimal pain. Recently I've been sexually active (unprotected). It's been about 34 days and no period. Granted it could be just another irregularity, but I'm stressing because I started taking my pill at a different time so I could get to bed earlier what with school starting. For the last few years, I took it at 9pm. For the last couple of weeks I've been taking it at varying times in the hour between 7pm and 8pm. I doubt that may have anything to do with it? I haven't missed any pills, either. I was just wondering what are the chances that I'm pregnant? Thank you for any insight. <3

Does your doc know that you've continued to have irregular periods on the pill?
My first thought was to ask how consistant you are in taking them...but you answered that, and seem on the ball with it.
You're right, it could be another irregular period...but you should take a home pregnancy test anyway. If it is positive, you'll know for sure what's going on. If its negative but you still don't get a period soon - then take another test and make an appt to see your doc even if that test is negative. Having irregular periods on the pill doesn't *necessarily* mean that its contraceptive value is compromised - but if I were you, I'd want an exam to know that for sure. And anyway, if you were taking the pill to control irregularity and it hasn't helped - then a different pill type may be in order anyway.
In the meantime, use condoms as a backup until you know for sure what's going on - and until you know you can count on your pill.
