Thick uterus walls

A little background if I may. The past 3 periods (between 14 - 18 days)hv been prolonged and verry heavy bleeding.Decided last month that I'd better see the gynae and he gave be a shot and hormone pills to 'rebalance' my hormones.Had my period as predicted and prof asked me to go in on 2nd day of period to have an ultrasound to check for fibroids etc.
No fibroids nor cysts on my ovaries. However, he said my uterus walls were unusually thick at that point of my period. So today he took a scraping of my uterus walls to see if they'd come up with anything... I get the results in about 2 weeks. If the samples he got today aren't enough I'll have to go for a DNC to get better sample. He won't say right now what could be the cause.... does anyone have a clue?
I've tried to find sites on this but haven't been able to so far... probably looking at the wrong sites I guess.
Should I be worried? My period this month lasted the usual 5-7 days but days 2 - 5 were heavy (heavier than my normal periods). Has anyone else gone through this or at least have had this problem of 'thickened uterus walls'?
I don't know what to expect and would like to prepare myself when I see him on the 15th.
Thanks and take care all

I wish I had some answers for you. I really don't know what could be causing this. Hopefully some other women here will have some suggestions for you.
I know 2 weeks is a long time to wait! Try not to worry too much. I'll keep you in my thoughts.
Take care,
Kristin
Thanks for the words of encouragement. I am trying not to worry too much and am hoping that it's just one of those 'odd' cases. The good part is I don't feel ill or any such thing so I'm sure that's good. Coupled with the fact that there aren't any fibroids or cysts I'm sure that's a good thing.
Thanks again for the reply and encouragement. Will keep you posted.
