bleeding for 2 months

Hi All:
The story in short is this. I went on the Pill (Ortho Tri-cyclen) about 3 months ago. Everything was fine & got my period on the day I expected too. But ... I didn't stop bleeding, this went on for a few weeks. My ObGyn seemed to this this was fine. My body was adjusting to the hormones. 2 more weeks went by & I continued to bleed. I stopped taking the Pill at that point. A few days after I stopped taking the pills the bleeding subsided. About 2 or 3 weeks after that (which was about 2 weeks ago) I got terrible cramps & began bleeding again. I was in pretty bad shape for about a week. I feel fine now ... but I'm still bleeding. My ObGyn seems to I was bleeding b/c I was ovulating. I'm going to a different ObGyn next week.

Have any of you had a similar experience?
Thanks,

Well I'm glad to know I'm not the only experiencing similar problems with birth control. I started taking bc about three months ago and I have been on my period ever since. I came to Ivillage looking for answers that my doctors havn't given me, but havn't found any articles yet. I was very relieved to see your message and to know that I am not alone, but I am still frustrated with the lack of information on this subject.
My doctors started me off with a brand of bc called ovcon 35. My first month of heavy bleading was dismissed as breakthrough bleeding and ignored. My second month I was diagnosed with anemia because I had lost so much blood. My doctor did an ultrasound but couldn't find anything wrong and assured me that the problem should clear up soon. The problems continued only more painful and nausuiating. I went back to my doctor a week and a half ago and had some blood tests taken to see if it was because of clotting issues and to check my blood count. But the results showed nothing so my doctor switched my brands of birth control.
Everything cleared up for the first couple of days, but I'm back to bleeding now. I've moved back to my apartment near my college so my doctor is now an hour and a half away from me, which makes everything that much more frighting. I'm getting tired of buying tampons every week, and my boyfriend is suffering too. All I want is some answers. Like why is this happening and how do I fix it.
I'm going to call my current doctor tomorrow and look for a new doctor in the area as well. Hopefully I'll get some answeres and some help soon. If you find anything usefull and wouldn't mind sharing my email is lostcharlotte55@yahoo.com
I hope the best for you
Jenni
Have you visited the Birth Control board here? It's a really supportive board and might help you in finding some answers.
Take care,
