Hi, my name is Jenn, and this is my first post here.

I'm having a problem in my vulva region. It doesn't happen in my vaginal region, just the area around it. My skin tends to crack there, and little cuts form. It's kinda of like when you have dry skin and it cracks. I've had this problem for quite some time, probably 5 or so years, but it's never been this big of a problem. Over the last few months, it has gotten worse. Sometimes they are painful and other times this itch. I use either Neosporin or Vagisil cream to help with irritation. They seem to go away after a few days, but usually come back within the week. They only occur when I'm not on my period. Anytime they are touched or rubbed against, they return.

Little background on me(don't know if this is related or not) - I'm engaged, and I've only been intimiate with my fiance. We have both been tested for STD's, before we started having sex at all. I've never had a child and I've never been pregnant. I'm currenty on Desogen birth control, and have been for the last year. We haven't had sex in a while because of the problems. I also have a history of yeast infections, but I haven't had one in about 5 or 6 months.

I called my gynecologist today, but he won't be in until next week.

Any ideas??? This is driving me nuts.

Thanks in advance

Jenn

Welcome Jenn!

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I have experienced cuts before but not to the extent that you are. It's painful and very uncomfortable. I only get cuts when I have a yeast infection. Five years is way too long to be going through this! I'm glad you called your doctor. You really need to have it looked at and hopefully taken care of!

I wish I could explain what's going on but I can't. Maybe some other ladies here have some ideas and experiences.

Hopefully your doctor will be able to help you so you can get back to enjoying your fiancé again!

Come back and let us know what your doctor said. Good luck with your health and have a great wedding!

Kristin

Update -

My doctor's office called me early yesterday and said I could see the nurse mid-wife and she should be able to help me.

She couldn't find any signs of a yeast infection, and said that the irritation was from excess moisture in the region. She said it gets worse in the summer months, and that's why it has really been bothering me lately.

She prescribed me a cortiosteriod (sp?) cream, and after only 2 applications, it's already starting to feel better.

Thanks for helping.
