Late/Missed Period, Ladies PLEASE HELP!

I'm new to the board and would GREATLY appreciate any womanly advice I can receive. My periods have always been very regular. I'm 27 years old. Just this month, I was expecting my period and it hasn't come. The preg. test was negative -- and I took several at different times. Also, the past several months, at least, my periods are very light. Much lighter than before I had my baby (she's 2). Could this indicate any fertility issues? My husband and I use non-hormonal birth control. My mother had fertility problems with a early onset menopause (early-mid 30s). My mom didn't seem to think I should be concerned that I would eventually "get it", but it does seem odd when I've always been so regular. I'm thin, but I've been thinner, so I didn't think it was necessarily that. I do have some stress, but not more than a few months ago. So, PLEASE, ladies, will you tell me what is wrong? Should I go to the doctor and have a blood test for pregnancy? Should I just stop freaking out?
Thank you so kindly,
confused and worried!

We are going through the same thing right now. I also use non-hormonal birth control. FAM to be exact. Do you chart your temp and monitor your cervical fluid/position? Do you know what day you ovulated? How late are you? Late enough that a hpt is accurate?
I too have been regular my entire life. I'm 26. This month, I didn't ovulate until cd 25. Yeah, 25! At least, I think so. :} I'll have to see what my temp does tomorrow. Why did this happen? I have no idea. Since I didn't ovulate till cd25, I won't get my period for 14 days after that. That's really the key here. If you ovulate later then usual, your period will also be late. The number of days between ovulation and mensus is the same number of days every month. But, the time between cd1 and ovulation can vary.
I have made an appointment to see my doctor. I think any significant change in your cycle warrants at least a phone call to your doctor. Sudden changes could be caused by many things. It could also just be an off cycle. You never know!
Try to calm down a bit. If it makes you feel better, see your doctor. Just so you know, you're not alone!

Thanks for answering. I don't chart my temp or cervix position. I remember looking into that when I first got married, but we decided on condoms. Baby is 2 and we want to wait a little longer before the next one.
I don't understand the abbreviations (cd?), sorry. Also, do you think it would be a bad time to start hormonal birth control, when my period isn't acting normally? Do you know anything about light periods?
Sorry for all the questions!
That's really something you should talk about with your doctor. If you've been regular your whole life, you might want to find out why all of a sudden your not. At least, I would before starting anything. There are many things that could cause light periods. It would be very difficult to suggest anything.
Have you been to the birth control board yet? It's a great source of info and I highly recommend it. Here's the link:

Sorry I couldn't help more! Take care.
