Anyone ever hear of a "friable cervix"?

I have a had problem for a few years now where I will bleed between my period. It is really weird because it started suddenly. I first noticed it after intercourse. I went to a doctor who said it was a bacterial infection and gave me and my husband antibiotics. We were tested for STDs and nothing was found. after taking the medicine the same problem appeared the next month and every month since then. I have tried switching BC pills and that doesnt seem to help. I went to another doctor who ran some tests like an ultrasound and found nothing wrong. Another doctor, after doing my annual exam, said that it was because I had a friable cervix. So every month I bleed, usually the week before my period but last month it was 2 weeks before. The last doctor said it was not a problem for me except that it is a nuisance. I am really sick of it though. It makes me not want to have sex because I don't know if it will be bad or not.

The doctor said I could have a surgery (cryosurgery I think) to fix it but it was not really good to do it now in case I want to have children in the future.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so what did you do about it? I have thought about trying a new doctor that specializes in gyno problems, not just a regular gyno.

Welcome!

I'm sorry, I don't know anything about this. It certainly can't hurt to see another doctor. They might know something your doctor doesn't.

Good luck to you!

Hi,

I am not a doctor but have had my share of gynocological problems. Bleeding in between periods can be a signal of many things and in my opinion, you should definately see another doctor - at least for a second opinion. Don't poo-poo it away. It really should be checked.

Good Luck

My doc recently told me that I have the same thing. I was also having bleeeding during and after intercourse. THey did a pap on me and it came back abnormal. So they did a colposcopy and I had cervicitis. I guess what it means is that we have very sensitive cervixes. I don't have any bleeding now with intercourse that just stopped after the meds. But I just had another abnormal pap. Dunno what to tell you other than see another doc if it will help put your mind at ease. Good luck!!
