New here, have question

Hi everyone. I am new to this board, but I am very puzzled and would really like some input.

I was due for a period on 9/9, but it still has not come. I took a home pregnancy test yesterday (Thursday 9/18). The result was negative. Being nine days late, I would expect a positive to show up if I was, in fact, pregnant. So I am assuming that I am not.

I have never been this late before. The latest I have ever been is one or two days. What, besides pregnancy, could be causing me to be so late? I am not that stressed, haven't changed my diet/exercise, haven't been taking any meds, and I am not on birth control. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice for me? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to our community!

There are many reasons as to why one might miss a period. A pregnancy test probably would have shown up by now. But, stranger things have happened! My suggestion is to contact your doctor.

I'm including a link that gives some explanation as to why this may be happening. But, only your doctor will know for sure.

Please ask if you have any other concerns!

Thanks for the link! I think, if I don't start in the next week or so, I will call the doctor. The odd thing is, I had PMS symptoms around the time I was due to start, but never had a period. Saturday will make me 11 days late. This is so weird for me. I just hope everything is ok. Thanks again!

Hey-

Girl dont stress it- Im sure everything is ok with you. I will pass on some info my Gyno told me. No one stays the same forever, in MOST females life there comes a time when her regular period is not so regular anymore--its not a problem unless you are trying to have a baby. All my life my period was regular and on time--I had my daughter (almost) 2 yrs ago and even after she was born my period was regular.....just a few of months ago the same thing happened to me. My Gyno advised for whatever reasons I was not ovulating therefore skipping a period. Im sure your fine, but to confirm you should check w/your Gyno.

Thanks! I am now about 13 days late, so I am assuming that it is just not coming this month. I am only 20 years old, so it is highly unlikely that I would be starting menopause. If I did not ovulate this time around, does that mean I may never ovulate again or not ovulate all the time, or is this just a normal thing that happens to healthy women once in a while? I don't have any children yet because I am waiting until I am sure that I am ready. But I really want children someday. So I guess, my concern is whether or not this will affect my chances of getting pregnant in the future when I decide that I am ready.

I really wouldn't worry about fertility at this point! Yes, some perfectly healthy women do skip periods every once in awhile. Your best bet is to deal with your doctor on this. Don't let yourself get worked up without knowing the full story!
