Is this a problem for a gynecologist?

For more than 6 months, I have been wetting the bed at night and sometimes almost wet my pants in the public restrooms. This happens when I am trying to get my pants down to go.I spoke to my internist and he said that he won't run any test until I see my GYN. I am 49 years old and this has already caused me a lot of embarrassment. I recently had to cancel out on a convention in the capital, I am afraid that I will wet the bed in the hotel. I wear Depends diapers to bed, but they just aren't enough anymore.

The other problem is, I have a rash on my backside (buttocks) and it is very itchy, I have tried many things including talnofate, nothing works. The internist says the GYN should be able to help me with both. The rash has spread to my pubic hair area. I have to wear diapers 24/7 now and live in the tropics. You can imagine the intense itch that I have.

Besides that, I have no love life now...I have a new man in my life, but I am afraid to have relations with him, what if this is contagious.

Wondering why I haven't seen the GYN yet? I am in a country where if you aren't pregnant, the waiting list for the doctor is months for an appointment. HELP...has anyone got any other ideas?

Yes, but more specifically, a urogynecologist. If you look around the ivillage search for "incontinence" you will see what you are experiencing is more common that maybe you think. You didn't mention your country, but there are lots of urogynecologists world-wide. You may be able to find one on your own, or you may have to start with a GYN.
