HELP!!!! Anybody!!! For about the last year I have had reoccurring Bacterial infections.

I go to my dr. and she usually gives me a perscription for Metrogel. My infection seems to go away, ie: the itching and the ordor...but it always comes back. I have also noticed that after I am done with the metrogel I get a yeast infection. The symptoms usually start after I am done with my period. If anyone has experienced this please help. Any tips would be great!!!

I there.. I know how you feel, I have fought with chronic yeast infections and had several bacterial infections. They are not fun. First off you are getting the Yeast because the Metrogel is an antibiotic.. Next time ask for a diflucan to take while you are on the metrogel. They also have oral medicine instead of metrogel.. I"m not sure if that would be better at not getting yeast (Flagyl). The key is to figure out why you keep getting the bacteria. ARe you sexually active and your partner and you could be passing it back and forth?? I've gotten it from receiving oral sex (with morning breath.. not good).. and also if you aren't careful in your hygeine that can affect things. Make sure that you never get anything from your back end near your front etc (some people let sex partners go from the back to front w/our washing etc and that can really spread serious bacteria). Sorry I'm not saying you are doing any of these things, but from personal experience.. I've learned the hard way that it can happen! (that makes me sound wonderful doesn't it?) Anyway.. Make sure you are washing your undies in HOT water to kill any bacteria .. and when not using any gels etc sleep a la naturale to let yourself breathe. I know that I use to get infections from my DH when he smoked too (figure all that tar on his hands etc). I took Yeastfighters for 2 years and that really helped, but more so with the yeast than the bacteria. Dont' be afraid to ask your dr WHY you are getting those... try to see if they can help you narrow down the reason.

Good Luck, I hope I helped some

Thanks for the advice. What is Acidophilus? Where can I get it?

This is my first time posting a message!! I am glad there is somewhere

I can go and ask questions and where the women are so supportive and willing

to share their knowledge.

Ginners.

Thanks so much for responding to my message. I thought something was wrong with me!!!

You gave some great advice. I went to the Dr. yesterday and she said it looked like

another bacterial infection. I had asked her many times before if it was possible that my boyfirend and I were just passing it back and forth but she said that probably wasnt it. But yesterday she told me that my BF should get treated as well. Hopefully that will clear things up. I didn't even make the connection that the Metrogel was an antibiotic...

I should have know I always get yeast infections after being treated for a UTI.

Well as for the underwear part. I dont wear any (sorry if that is too much info.) but maybe it is transfering from my pants? I dont think I am getting the bacteria from my back side, I had no idea that you could get it from oral sex!!Hmm.. lots to think about.I told my BF no more sex until both of us are treated. I am so tired of dealing with this and it gets pretty expensive with all the office visits and the perscriptions.

Again thanks sooo much for your insight!!! Hopefully I can get these infections behind me!!!

Good Luck.. I hope this time since you are both being treated it clears you up!! I know exactly how you feel.. and it is very frustrating. Keep pursuing it and if you get another one make notes of what happened the day or days before you got it.. maybe you will find a pattern.

Keep us POsted!!

Hey There, I have been suffering with the same thing for a year now, what time it is not bacterial it is yeast and seems to be right after my period and never completely goes away. I have been on acidophilus, yogurt, garlic,my doctor even had me insert capsules of boric acid to balance the PH which was the most relief ever. I also changed my soap to dove and washing powders to no perfumes. I have been to 5 different doctors each just prescribing something different. I just read someones email on here about the same thing and she had been diagnosed with vaginal exfoliation disorder? I had nver heard of it before. I am going to ask my doctor about it. Good Luck and let me know what happens. Thanks Sheila

Hi chocolate.

I just wanted to clarify that the cranberry and yogurt controls/cures yeast infections but not bacterial vaginitis which typically cause fishy odor. Yeast rarely has bad odor but has terrible discharge/itching/irritation. I use Dove and even if I shower I still have the fishy smell after a while...especially after sex. According to vaginal cultures taken more than once, just to make sure, there is no sign of any STD or other unfriendly bacteria. I cannot figure this out!!!
