Can a yeast infection mimic a UTI? I've had yeast infections before, but not where it burned. When I went pee, it burned, but the next time I went, it didn't. I called my primary doctor, and she suggested I come in tomorrow, to get checked for a UTI. However, for the last week, I've been having discharge - a whiteish yellowish color. So, I bought some Monistat on the way home today from work. Should I go ahead and use it? I dont want to go to the doctor if I dont have to. I also am taking cranberry pills and drinking more water, which for the last 2 days, I havent been drinking a lot like I usually do.

Yes, a UTI can mimic a yeast infection. I thought I had a UTI, and ended up with a yeast infection after all. Then I had UTI for real, and wow, it hurt to go.

You really should get a doc to check it out, but they also told me to drink alot of water to try to flush it out.

I have had many many UTIs, and yes sometimes there is also a vaginal discomfort along with the urethral discomfort. Taking monistat shouldn't affect the test they will do. I have heard that Alka Seltzer can get rid of a UTI so I have some for my next one, but I haven't tried it yet. Also, you would be better off drinking straight cranberry juice, not cocktail. I have sat on the toilet and drank two gallons of it straight, and gotten rid of a few UTIs like that. It takes patience and a good book...but hey..it worked :)
