Need help with CLhamydia

I was diagnosed with chlamydia this June. When I went back to the clinic where I got checked (it was the department of health services..something) they gave me a medicine to drink, and the lady told me that the disease would be gone in 7 to 10 days. That I couldn't have sex for that period of time so the infection wouldn't reappear. My boyfriend was also treated for the disease even though his results came back negative. But when I went to my doctor for my annual, she told me I had chlamydia again. I was in a monogamous relationship, and my boyfriend couldn't have given it to me because he went and got checked again and his results were still negative. I asked the doctor and she said that sometimes the disease is hard to get rid off, and that I should go back again in 3 months and get checked again. She said sometimes two partners can have unprotected sex and one of them may carry a disease and the other one may not. My major concern is that if this disease is left untreated, I read it can cause infertility and pelvic inflammatory disease. I need to know if what my doctor is telling me is true and am I going to have this disease for a long time. Please help me.

It seems odd to me that your doctor would send you away for 3 months without giving you any medicine.

From experience I can tell you that chlamydia isn't always easily treated. Even though you were told that the treatment would work in 7-10 days, they should have told you to come back and be retested for it after that 10 days. I had to be treated twice to get rid of the disease, and I didn't even know I still had it when I found out the second time(I wasn't told to get retested either). If you haven't been retreated, don't wait around, get to another doctor and get treated. If it hasn't gone yet, it won't go away by itself. And yes, left untreated it can cause PID and infertility.

hope this helps
