Provera, what if it doesn't work?
| Sun, 10-12-2003 - 5:19pm |
hi, my doc gave me provera, 20 mg a day to help me slough off some of my endometrium lining which has gotten a little thick and to get my periods more regular, well, i finished a 10 day course of provera yesterday and nothing, should it work while i'm taking it, when does it usually start to work, what if it doesn't work, what usually happens, please help.
thanks.
thanks.

My doctor told me my period would start 3-5 days after I stop the Provera, so you have some time left. If it hasn't started by then, you should call your doc. Has he mentioned anything about doing an endometrial biopsy? That is where they scrape some of the endometrial lining to find out why it's thick. It's an office procedure and should give you more information, especially if the Provera doesn't work for you.

I had a biopsy done in July. A few months earlier i had a normal ultrasound, then i had a very long and strange period, so they redid an ultrasound two months later and found two growths. I had a d&c and they removed the growths which turned out to be fibroids. they did the scraping and found nothing abnormal. everything came back fine. they believe my situation is hormonal, could be stress or my weight, but to get rid of that thickening theyput me on provera. i was very pms-like on it. i just hope that it works, don't know exactly what to expect.
Let me know how you do.
