brown discharge with "shell" particles

I have been experiencing a brown discharge with brown particles in it. This occurs at various times throughout my cycle. The particles look like little pieces of a "shell" that has been broken. One time I discovered something that looked like a sesame seed (white color) and twice I discovered something that looked like a poppy seed (almost black color). I visited my OB and had a hysteroscopy with a d&c...he found extra tissue growth in my uterus (which he removed). It's been almost 2 weeks since my surgery and now I am having problems again. I guess the tissue growth was NOT causing my symptoms. Has anyone ever heard of these types of symptoms before? I am having a hard time locating useful information. What could be wrong with me????
When the surgery was scheduled with my OB I was not experiencing the seed/shell problem. Mainly my problem consisted of spotting between periods, mostly red in color at first. It changed to an orange color after a few months, then brownish, now this. It's been 6 months since I've been "normal" and I really need to resolve this problem...please help!!

Did you tell your doctor about these seeds/shells? This may sound gross but save them in a clean container and take them with you to the doctor the next time you go. Stranger things have been done. At the very least the doctor can send them to a pathologist, they can look at them under a microscope and try to figure out what they are.
