GOING OFF THE PILL

I have been on Ortho-tri cyclen for the past 5 years. About 2 years ago I tried to go off the pill and when I had my first period after stopping it was horrible. I was having severe cramps, a horrible headache, and was vomitting the whole first day. I could not function the whole day. I immediately went back on the pill after that, because I feared that it would happen again the next month. I am now planning on stopping again when I finish the pack next month. I am so afraid that it will happen again, but I no longer want to continue taking the pill. Does anyone know if what I experienced is normal, and if it is how long will it continue? Any advice on how to handle the symptoms?

Thanks so much!!

Going off the pill can cause your hormones to go crazy.

I have been on ortho tri cyclin off and on for the past year. Each time I went off (for whatever reason) the first month after not taking the pill everything was horrible. Actually this past week was my first month off the pill again (Doctors orders)2 days before getting my period my back hurt so bad it woke me up in the middle of the night. Now with me it could have been somethign else, but i prefer to blame it on not taking the pills, as well as the day before my period cramps were horrible. I couldnt even stand up, I seriously thought i was going to end up in the emergancy room they hurt so bad.

But you should talk to your doctor if your uncomfortable with things, just because it happens to one person doesnt necessarily mean it is fine if it happens to another person..

Good luck
