Really weird period

I was expecting my period on the 24th of this month. From the 24th until the 29th, I had very light spotting (a pink and brown color) (sorry for TMI) Then on the 30th around 3pm I got my period really heavy (needed 2 tampons in 2 hours) and had incredibly bad cramps. Then it slowed down and now at almost 4am it's completely stopped. Anybody ever had this happen before?? It's so far from normal for me. Usually it's right on time, lasts 2-3 days, not heavy and no pain. I'm really nervous. If anyone has any idea what might be happening please reply.

Thanks,

Dawn

You don't say how old you are but I wouldn't worry about one strange period. It's normal for a period to be heavier than normal or go on longer than normal if it's late. You could have missed ovulation this month or it could be a number of other things. Keep track of this over the next few months and, if it continues, it's worth asking your doctor about. But I wouldn't worry about one time.

I'm 24. I had spotting last month, but this month i've had these really terrible cramps.

I would recommend keeping track of all of your symptoms. I have a calendar that has a code, B for Bleeding, s for spotting, I for intercourse etc... It took me quite a while for my doctor to take my symptoms serious but I'm quite a bit older than you. I'm having a sonohystogram on Tuesday to find out the reason for my abnormal bleeding. Anyway, if you notice a pattern (or non-pattern?) of irregular bleeding, or if your cramping is such that it interferes with your life, call your doctor. The menstrual cycle is a natural occurance and shouldn't decrease your quality of life. At least that's my opinion.
