Hi. i'm actually really scared. i had sex with a new partner on halloween and the next day my vaginal area was very swollen and red. it's two days later and the severe itching continues. We used a condom and i think it might have had spermicide on it and i don't think i've ever used that before.

i thought it was a yeast infection and started using cream today but, it burned when i inserted the cream and i woke up at 4 am with extreme itching.

help me, please

You could be allergic to spermicide. But, I'd think after 2 days, it would have gotten at least a little bit better. If the cream is burning, don't use it. I'd make an appointment to see a doctor. If it's yeast, they can prescribe Diflucan, which is a pill. That way, you won't have to deal with the cream.

If it's not yeast, then hopefully they'll be able to figure out what's going on. Do you have a latex allergy?

In the mean time, try sitz baths. Fill your tub up with warm water, just enough to cover your lower half. Sprinkle some baking soda in there. Sit there for 10-15 mitunes. That might help with the itching.

I hope it subsides soon for you!

I recently had allergic hives that also affected my genital region. I read somewhere that genital hives can last much longer than regular hives. The symptoms were very much like what you described. I took Claritin and it helped a lot. I would bet that since your symptoms are limited to one area, that the allergy is to either the spermacide or the condom. An anti-histamine is worth a try while you're waiting to get into the doctor.
