Has anyone had a procedure to stop your periods? I am in menopause and at times have very heavy periods and my dr was asking if I would like to do this? I am going to go to a gynecologist to discuss it but thought I'd ask around.

My advice, as one who has been there, is wait it out. I know it can seem like forever, but the less unnatural stuff you do to your body the better.

It's like going on hormone replacement therapy--I was on it for 3 years and every few months I would bleed and spot like crazy. I was really scared since my aunt had uterine cancer and such. My new doctor told me that the HRT was most likely causing this problem so I made the decision to stop taking it. And guess what? I haven't had any problem since! Yes, I still have the hot flashes from time to time, but that's a whole lot better than worrying about cancer for no reason.

I guess what I am trying to say is that your body knows what it needs to do, and as long as you let it simply finish what it needs, everything will be okay in the long run. Heavy periods are heck--I know that! But it is the beginning of the end! Celebrate!!
