Bleeding after pap??

So I went to the Dr this Monday for my annual physical. I am mid cycle (I know better than to book my pap any other time) and it all goes fine. Except when I'm done I am bleeding like hell. Really a lot. I just figure that my Dr went a little crazy with the spoolie collecting thing. I mean I've bled a bit after paps before, nothing too scary. But the day goes on amd I'm still bleeding. That night I pass a few clots or some tissue and am still bleeding a bit. Next day still a little tiny bit of bleeding (like when I wipe after peeing) but it does stop. Now I get a phone call from his office saying they need to rebook and redo my pap because there was too much blood in the sample. She thought I was having my period, but I explained that I wasn't (and according to cycle pages I was ovulating) and she said she'd talk to him and call me back. Anyone have this happen before? I have already had a culposcospy back in April of 99. So I do have some anxiety about these things. Could my ovulating have made my cervix more sensitive?

Thanks for replying! :) I am scheduled to go back and get it redone on Dec 4th. I think he was just a bit *aggressive* in his collection. We discussed it and he will do the tests in a different order (pap first, spoolie thing after) and I will insist on a more gentle approach. I checked around and apparently it's not *that* uncommon to bleed after a pap. I may have some what of a turned out cervix as well. The more vascular part could be a bit more exposed. I'll update after then, and again..... thanks for the reply. :)
