I am very embarrassed to ask about this but it bothers me terribly and I find I couldnt even ask my doctor several weeks ago. I am in my forties and in the past months noticed a not so pleasant smell . When I really notice it is after intercourse but can tell its up inside me all the time I guess. My husband had a injury a while ago so we do not make love often but when we do I notice after we are through a fishy type odor. I hate it. He never says anything but I know it is obvious. I am a very clean person and have been with the same man for 30 years. I never used a deuche. Never had a infection and have check ups yearly. Would it have anything to do with me having a hysterectomy 2 years ago? Any one know what I am talking about.? Please help Thanks from terrubly embarrassed

Oh my goodness, please don't be embarrassed because you know that when you post that question, hundreds of other women will also be experiencing or have experienced the same problem. I had this problem last week and my situation also occured after I had sex with my partner, I noticed the fishy odour after sex, I could even smell myself at work and was embarrassed to be around people.

Do you have sex with your partner without a condom? I notice this to occur mainly when my period has ended and I"m having sex without a condom. I also am a very clean person.

I suggseting trying a douche, they are NOT somthing you should use regularily, douches are ok to cleanse yourself somtimes, after your period has ended or after you have sex , mainly times when you just want that extra cleansing.

Do NOT use a scented douche, get a vinegar and water douche, I almost guarantee this will fix your problem. It fixed mine immediatly.

Good Luck and Take Care :)

thankyou so much for the words of wisdom. I cant tell you how much it bothers me. I actually just went off 10 days of strong antibiotics because I had Bacterial pneumonia after a virus of some kind. I was alittle concerned about the dousching. I have nver done that. I never smell it except after intercourse, Like I said I wonderd if it had anything to do with infrequency of sex. My poor husband has to take viagra due to a injury. Is that possible? Any way thanks for the input

I recently experienced the same situation. After sex, I noticed a fishy smell. It would be more pronounced if my husband ejaculated inside me. (Sorry to be so graphic, but we are adults.) He didn't say anything, but I felt so dirty and embarrassed. I then started to feel really self-conscience about intimacy. I never use douches, my doctor adviced against it. But I did call and tell the nurse my symptoms. She said it sounded like a bacteria infection. After an exam, I found out that it was. Please go see your doctor. It is more common than you think.

I'm just finishing up an infection that sounds exactly like what you might have! My doc warned me that certain meds can alter your body chemistry (which they're there to do), but can throw off the balance of your reproductive system. (For lack of a better word.) That imbalance could easily cause a bacterial infection. Like everyone else has said, you should probably have your doc check it out. Be sure to let him know which meds you were just on or are on now, that's very important for him to figure out what caused it and how to best treat it.

It's nothing to be embarrassed about! Most women who've had kids have gone through this just before, during, or after pregnancy. We just want to see you healthy again! :)

Take care,
