painful urination - not UTI

This is a bit embarasing. My husband and I had a few too many cocktails the other night and wound up having sex. The problem is there was not enough lubrication. Now urination is painful (not like a UTI)and the area is sore. Does anyone have any suggestions to reduce the irritation and discomfort? I'm not drinking much for fluids since it's so painful to pee and I'm probably risking a UTI now too - ugh.

Thanks!

Oooo, I think we've all been there at one point or another!

I would definitely not stop drinking fluids, even though it hurts, it probably would only make things worse (as in risking a UTI) if you cut the fluids.

Ive been there too, and there is something you can do to help. First of all like the others said drink some cranberry juice to prevent the uti, they do suck. To help the pain when you pee put a bit of vasoline, pertrolium jelly, on your uretha, or wherever its sore and it will keep the area from getting irritated, and help the acid in the pee not sting so much, it does help, kind of coats the area. Then just let it heal.

Take care.=)

A month or so ago, I had the similar thing happen to me .. I thought it was a yeast infection, but then thought it was a UTI, because it hurt like one. I ended up drinking a lot of water & took cranberry pills, and whatever it was went away. Try the cranberry pills and see if that will help just in case it could be a UTI.

If you drink lots of water, you will actually reduce the acidity of your urine so that it won't burn so much!
