Question About Late Period
| Tue, 11-11-2003 - 11:48am |
Hello,
I am a 21 year old female, height 164cm (about 5' 5"), weight 56 kg (about 122lb). My last natural period was in March of 2002, I am a virgin so there is no chance of pregnancy. Since then I have hade one course of Provera about two months after my period stopped, 4 pills once a day for 5 days, and I got my period 5 days after that, it was a normal period in length and quantity. then after that I did not have a period for almost 4 months so they gave me Progyluton, I would take it for 21 days then wait about 3-4 days and I would get my period then on the fifth day of my period I would start the next course. I did this for 3 months and I got my period but once I started the next course it would stop (in other words the duration was only 5 days instead of 6-7 and the flow was slightly lighter than usual, and there were no pains). Finally I've been given Primolut N and have been told to wait between 40-45 days if I do not have a period I should take the pills, 2 pills once a day for 5 days and I would get my period within 4-5 days. I've done this twice now and as of today (November 11th) it has been 33 days since the beginning of my last period. I do have back pains and some slight lower abdominal pain. I have had these once before but I don't seem able to have a natural period. I have had blood tests and ultrasounds done and they have all came out normal thanks to the grace of God. Please advise me as to whether my course of treatment is correct and if you have any other suggestion they would be greatly appreciated. Also how long should I expect this to go on, and does this have any future implications on my ability to become pregnant once I am married (God willing). Thank you for your time.

Welcome Nourah!
It sounds like you've been through a lot already!
- First, I used to weigh about 150lb in contrast to the 122lb I currently weigh. That's a loss of about 30 lb. In total I lost 35 lb but I put back 5lb. So do you think that is sufficient enough to bring on Amenorrhea?
- Thank you for the book suggestion I have just placed an order for it. I'll keep you posted on how that works out.
- About the temperature charting I'm planning on buying a thermometer from Walgreen’s tomorrow, any specific type you recommend?
-Once the temp chart is completed (I’m assuming it is a one month cycle) is it possible to have an ovulation with out a period? If so how can I go about curing it?
- What is I am not ovulating, how can I fix that?
-Finally how long does this usually last?
Once again thank you you've been a great help :)

I'll try to answer these to the best of my knowledge.
