question about ovarian cyst

Hi. Since I was 29, now I am 33, I have had occassional pain on the right side where the ovary is. I know that there have been cysts there b/c I've had 2 ultrasounds and a cat scan. They always seem to dissolve on their own. My gyno always tells me they are normal and a sign I am ovulating. Lately I get the pain every month. It's not a sharp pain. It's dull and not all the time. Sometimes it's like a throbbing. Sometimes it is sharp like a pin pricking.

Have you heard of this and can it be connected to fertility in any way? I've never had an STD.

Hi Nancyfinger,

The pain that you described sounds more like the monthly ovulation time pain. The only time I would be concerned about STD linked pain is when its all over your abdomen area and pain during intercourse. I have had PID before and believe me that pain is unbearable. I had no idea what was wrong with me! I couldn't even walk. The only thing I can tell you is to keep getting regular ultrasounds to monitor the size and complexity of the cyst and to keep your doc informed of any pain reoccurring or more intense. I have ovarian cysts but fortunately they are simple follicular and I really feel them around ovulation time. The pain differs from month to month but most of the time its pinchy pin prick feeling. Good Luck to you and if you have any questions of me feel free to ask.
