Missing periods - need some advice
| Thu, 01-01-2004 - 5:18pm |
I'm 21 years old and I have always had irregular periods, sometimes skipping a month a year. I first started having periods when I was 11. Sometimes they would come at the first of the month, sometimes the end, sometimes the middle. My mom said she always had irregular periods too, and they were never regular until she had children. I've never been to the gynecologist, just because I've put it off as long as possible. My question is - I havent had a period since October 1st (they usually last about 3-4 days) and I know I need to go. I just wondered if anyone had any advice as to what they think might have caused this lapse. It's never lacked for more than one month, and I haven't had any big changes in my life (job, health, stress, etc.) that I think would have brought this on. I'm going to schedule an appt, but I would like to know if anyone else has had this problem with my kind of symptoms (or non-symptoms, for that matter) and what you think might cause it for me. I have no children and have never had sex. Thanks for your help.

Have you recently started or stopped a diet or excercixe routine? Sometimes a strict diet or strenous excercise can cause a glich in your cycle.
I think it it probably a good thing though to see your GYN especially if you have never been, even just to establish a relationship.
