A CT scan that I had last week revealed a mass on the wall in the midline pelvic area that extends from my ovary, and is adjacent to my colon,(or vica versa) on the left side. It measures appox. 4" in diameter and 2"in in width. The report said it could be an abcess due to multiple diverticula, ( I guess due to not being able to go to the bathroom normally in a long time) an ovarian cyst, or ovarian tumor. Are ovarian tumors that are this size normally cancerous? Does one usually live this long with such a large tumor if it is cancerous? Also, is ovarian cancer a fast-growing, and fast spreading cancer? My liver, bladder, spleen, appendix, etc., were okay. My symptoms have been constipation for almost a year, episodic fevers of around 100 to 100.7. I have bloating, feel so full when I eat, and hurt also in my left thigh and leg, left side around my ribs, and lower back, and feel a general uneasiness in my pelvic area at times, but not a lot of pain in that area. I was told I would have to have exploratory surgery very soon to get a definitive diagnosis, though a date has not been set. Is there a good chance of the cyst rupturing? If it's an ovarian tumor could it burst as well? If anyone on this site can help educate me further on this, it would help emotionally, and help ease my mind somewhat. I would be so appreciative. I also ask for your prayers, suggestions, etc., etc. I am a 43- year-old single mom, and scared to death. I know there is a message board on here for ovarian cancer, etc., but it looks as though no one has posted in quite a while. No other woman in my family has had any type of cancer at all. Please help!!! I will be checking back for replys everyday! Thanks and God Bless!
Robin

I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through. I don't have any experience with ovarian cancer or cysts etc, so I can't really answer your questions. I can understand how scared you are.... I had to have a 13 hour surgery to decompress my spinal cord and fuse a couple of vertebra when I was 14 years old. Not knowing if you're going to be okay can be pretty scary! Hopefully there is someone else here who can be more helpful.
In the mean time, I did do a search and found a couple of places that you can get some information and ask questions of experts or talk with people going through the same problems. The msn boards usually have a lot of active participants and you might have more luck finding people going through the same thing:
