Dry as a ...DESERT!

I am 25 years old and have 2 children, the yougest being 3. In the last several months I have noticed that I am completly dry. The idea of intercourse is a complete turnof because I know that I will be dry...even if I am interested. I recently heard that Vitamin E may help....any other ideas out there...and is this abnormal at my age? Any advice will be appreciated!

Thanks!

I don't have any great advice but wanted you to know that it's not abnormal to experience dryness. I know I have had several episodes of dryness over the years. I never asked my Dr about it and I just figured it was hormonal. It always seems to just go away on it's own. If it gets really uncomfortable you can always try one of the lubricants at the drug store. They have some new ones out now that aren't as messy and don't feel like vaseline.

HTH. :)

Is that your only symptom, or are there any other problems? Sometimes vaginal dryness can indicate a bigger problem.

Using myself as an example (and I'm not at all suggesting this is your problem!!!), vaginal dryness was one symptom that I had, along with very irregular periods, breast discharge, headaches, mood swings, and very mild acne. It turns out I had a pituitary tumor that was producing the hormone prolactin, which was messing up all my other hormones including estrogen and progesterone. I think both estrogen and progesterone can affect vaginal dryness.

Anyway, if it is your only problem, then its probably not a big issue and you could probably find relief by using a lubricant like KY jelly, or you might be able to get a prescription from a dr for premarin or estrace cream, which are hormonal creams that you apply to the area that will help. If you have other symptoms like irregular periods, you might consider seeing a dr for a work-up.

Good luck and hope you feel better soon!

Hi Leslie!

Are you on any kind of hormonal birth control?

Actually, I'm not on the pill anymore. My husband had a vasectomy 2 years ago an there has been no need. I was on the pill for 8 years before that ( started on them at 14 to help regulate cycle). I have many times wondered if maybe I shouldn't be back on them simply for the hormonal benefit :) My cramps and backaches have gotten worse since I stopped taking them and I'm lucky if my breasts are not tender maybe 1 week of the month! I am "between" health insurance plans at the moment and I guess I will have to wait on having it checked out.

Thanks for all of the advice...by the way has anyone heard that taking a Vitamin E supplement can help with this "moisture" problem? The article I read (can't remember where)said that after 3 weeks the symptoms should disappear. I've started taking it (just in case) it might work and even added a multi vitamin too!

Thanks!
