OTC's aggravate Candidiasis?

I haven't had this particular problem in several years, but last time it came from a antibiotic regime, same as this time. Now, in the past my doc told me to use Monistat, but after a course of Monistat the infection was (on the pain threshold) ten times worse. Now, I can't get in to see anyone for a day or two, but I'd rather avoid a situaion like last time. My last doc (who lost my business after looking at me that last time and, after telling me that she wouldn't see me until I finished the Monistat, "Oh, you poor dear, I've never seen anything this bad before.") was of the opinion that Monistat was the best OTC on the market, to be used before resorting to Diflucan. However, I'm leery of trying another OTC for fear that I won't be able to close my legs again.
So, um, any help???

I can see why you would be afraid to try another OTC cream!
