Coughing and pelvic floor muscles

I have a question relating to pain, coughing and the pelvic floor.
But first a bit of background.
I am a nearly 47 year old, who after a 20 year marriage, subsequent celibacy, started a very satisfying relationship nearly 3 years ago. When I first made love again, I had pain, but it passed quite quickly. It seemed to be new positions, and in particular, when penetration was deep.
Now the situation is that I have had a nasty cold for the last 3 weeks or so, with lots of sneezing , coughing etc. And this has had an effect on my pelvic floor. The old stress incontinence! You know, having to stop walking to sneeze :(. And also, just at the same time I had my contrceptive implant remeoved, because of prolonged and heavy bleeding.
The drips I can cope with, but what is bothering me is that sex has become painful again. And as I have only very recently achived orgasm through intercourse, (and I know that that is largely in my head) I am worried about the pain putting me back.
So the question is do you think that the coughing etc may be responsible for the pain? And if so will doing my kegels consciensciously (I'm sure that's not how you spell it) should bring me back to normal?
I'd be grateful to hear from anyone who might have experienced the same thing, or who has any ideas to input.
TIA

Welcome!
Incontinence is very common as we get older.
Stress incontinence and I are unfortunately old friends. I have four kids. But I've been fine for a long time before this nasty cold. I take the view that prevention is better than cure! And whenever I remember when I am driving, I pull that elevator up and down! Especially at the traffic lights. lol
As for the pain, well I've been in this relationship for nerly 3 years now, and the pain has only just come back, which is what has stymied me.
But I'll check out the other links and see where that gets me.
Thanks again
