Hormone Replacement/Menopause

I have a concern about the hormone treatment I am receiving but don't want to discuss it with my doctor until I am sure there is a problem. Therefore, I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who is being treated in a similar fashion.

I had requested an estrogen patch in place of the birth control pills I had been taking....no problem. But I need to take progesterone as well, since I still have my uterus...no problem. The problem is, I have been prescribed 100 mg. of Prometrium twice a day (a.m. and p.m.) for seven days. The approved dosage (per the drug manufacturer) is to take all of the medication at night and to continue for at least 10 days, but usually 12, to decrease the chance of ovarian cancer. Is anyone else taking their hormone replacement in a similar fashion to my routine? Perhaps my doctor has his own reasons for doing it this way, but I'm concerned about the short duration of the Prometrium therapy. If I find that other women are being treated the same way, I won't be concerned. Thank you ladies!

Unfortuantely, I don't know much about this.
