Yeast infection question

Thanks for any advice you can give me... sorry for the description (Yuck!)

I think I have a yeast infection but some of the symptoms seem weird. Also, I had this same thing hit me about 3 weeks ago right when my body was fighting strep throat. Bascially, I have discharge which is relatively thin (not the described "cheesy), major discomfort... very itchy down there and kind of sore. When I looked at the area it was very red and irritated. When I wiped with toilet paper there was even a couple spots of pink (i.e. broken skin). Is this possible with a yeast infection? By the way, I am fighting another illness. Just woke up this morning with a sore throat, definately don't feel 100%.

Does this sound like a yeast infection? By the way, I am married (so I don't have more than 1 sex partner)and I know my husband is faithful. So the possibility of STD is pretty much 0%. Thanks for any advice!

Hi. I have had similar symptoms in the past. I was diagnosed with Bacterial Vaginosis. It can only be treated by taking a prescription med called Flagyl or there is another one..but I cannot think if the name of it, but it also is Prescription only. Hope this helps!

I think you could be right. Sometimes the discharge starts thin and gets thicker the longer you let it go. It is *definitely* itchy and red. It couldn't hurt to buy an over-the-counter treatment at the pharmacy. There's even a one day treatment now. If you didn't treat the first infection, the overgrowth could have started again. Good luck!
