Vag. itching - Dysplasia or HPV related?

I posted a more in-depth post on my Dyplasia on the Cervical Cancers concerns board, however I had a quick question for you guys...
Basically I've had two abnormal paps this year, a colposcopy that showed Severe Dysplasia, and a follow-up colpo. that I haven't received lab results on back yet, but showed a "pretty large" area of Dysplasia and two more biopsies were taken. The follow-up pap was basically to make sure my previous severe dysplasia hasn't progressed since my last colpo. three months ago. (The first abnormal pap came back 10 mo. ago)
However, I can't have any treatment for the severe Dysplasia yet because I'm currently 7 mo. pregnant - so we're playing the "wait and see" approach...since (even severe) Dysplasia usually takes so long to progress to cervical cancer.
But anyway - my gyno. related question is that I've had major vaginal itching for quite some time now. (Way before I was even pregnant) I never mentioned it to anyone, because it's kinda an embarrassing thing!
But basically, every once in awhile - this is not a constant thing - I'll get an extreme itch down there. So bad that 80% of my underwear have holes in them from me scratching in my sleep. Ugghh And then of course, after scratching too much, I become very raw and sore down there.
I have noticed that when I get an itch - the itch pretty much centers around an area of skin (very small area - like a pea size) that is a little different then the rest. It's very slightly raised, but not a bump, and you can feel a definite area that's different. This small area is in the same place each time - up until just recently when I felt a new itchy small area in a different location.
It's not an infection, because I have no other symptoms (no weird discharge, smells, burning with urination, etc.) I also do not use any different types of soaps or lotions to cause any sort of allergic reaction, and I do not use any condoms or lubrications.
Is this small *slightly raised* area that itches so bad once in a while - part of the dysplasia? Is it something caused by the HPV?
And is it something worth mentioning to my OB?
Thanks ladies!!

Welcome!
I'm so sorry to here about your Dysplasia!
I don't believe this itch is HPV or dysplasia related. That is not generally a symptom of either.
It sounds more like a cyst to me... that comes and goes. Your description makes it sound like a cyst under the skin and sometimes they can itch.
Just an idea! If you're concerned, definatly bring it up to your OB. Good luck!

The problem with the human papaloma virus is that it lays dormant for the most part and is difficult to find without biopsy.........for the most part you end up with a slightly abnormal pap. Since this is normal in pregnant woman due to hormonal changes it is difficult to differentiate the 2.
Dispalsia and HPV can cause something called bacterial vaginosis which can cause a milky white type of discharge and an itching, so this could be what you are experiencing.
This is something you should have checked immediately because BV is known to weaken the cervix and cause preterm labor. Good luck and I hope that the information I gave you is helpful, I have been helping my sister through this disease for the past 8 years, and she has had 3 children..2 by c section because the warts were present in the birth canal and could have passed the virus to the baby's. I was blessed not to ever have contracted an std..especially a viral one such as this which is incurable.
hope I have been some help to you

feel free to write if you have any further questions
Bacterial vaginosis and HPV are two different diseases. HPV is a virus. Bacterial vaginosis is a bacteria. One does not cause the other. You can have bacterial vaginosis and not have HPV. You can have HPV and not have bacterial vaginosis.
HPV is caused by catching the HPV virus through sexual genital contact. Bacterial vaginosis can occur through getting bacteria into your vagina, no intercourse is required.
