Hi, my name is Samantha and I'm having a problem, but I'm not sure if it's just a simple yeast infection or something more serious.

I'm actually quite embarassed about all of this, so please bear with me.

For a while now I think I have had a yeast infection. I'm getting cottage cheese like discharge down there.. So I bought Monistat 7 last night. I used it. So this is the first day in the 7 day process. Before I was using it I was noticing a funny smell from down there, I asked my boyfriend if it smelled funny and he said it didn't, but it still did to me. Maybe I'm just more sensitive to smell.. So anyway, today I was checking down there and now I have pinkish discharge and it's kinda foamy, I think it's foamy because of the Monistat I used but I'm not sure... The smell has gone away. If anybody could tell me if this is something serious and I should go to the doctor or if it's normal it would be of great help to me.

One more thing, I am having unprotected sex with my boyfriend of three years, but we haven't had sex in over a week because of the yeast infection.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi and Welcome!

Do you have any itching or burning along with the discharge?

A thought crossed my mind a while back...

I put a q-tip up there to see how much there was bleeding.. and when I put it on one side there was nothing... I turned the q-tip around and put it on the opposite side and there was blood. This leads me to wonder if maybe the little plastic tube you use to put the cream up there may have scratched the wall of the vagina. I don't think you are suppost to stick that up there very far.. Anyway, I think I may have scratched the wall of the vagina and that's what's causing the bleeding. Do you know if scratches inside heal quickly? Also, do you know if the monistat could affect the scratch or possibly make it worse because it's an open wound?

Anyway, just a thought.

It's unlikely that the tube scratched the wall of your vagina.
