vaginal band/pillar

hi- i'm wondering if anyone here has had this problem as well, or heard of anyone else. i'm having a hard time gathering information...

i have what my gynecologist describes as a vaginal band or pillar. its a piece of tissue (?), a thick piece running lengthwise in the vaginal opening that sort of divides the opening into two sections. it is similar but not the same as having a hymen that isn't entirely seperated. i have normal periods and can use a tampon, although working up to a normal size (not using a slim or teen size) was a difficult at first. and gettng them out can be tricky sometimes, since they can get caught and pull on the band. i have some elasticity, but not the normal amount of stretch that i should down there. this condition makes it impossible to have a pap smear done during a check up, or intercourse. the risk of tearing and blood loss would be too great, as would the pain.

i'm considering having it removed surgically, but was wondering if anyone had gone thru the same or similar thing... some personal insight would be good right now as i try to figure out the best course of action. thanks

Welcome.

I don't personally have, nor do I know anyone who has, experience with this condition and I'm not finding very much information on the internet either.

Have you spoken with your doctor about your condition and your desire to possibly have it surgically corrected?
