Enlarged cervical mucous gland?

Hi.....I'm a 46 year old woman, and I had a partial hysterectomy when I was 34, leaving one ovary and my cervix. The surgery was recommended due to a fibroid. About three years ago, I became aware of what seemed like a polyp growing on my cervix, and went to the doctor. He told me it was not a polyp, and it was not cancerous, but rather, an enlarged mucous gland. Because it was not causing any problems, or pain, we decided we would just watch it. A pap test came back normal. This "growth" continued to get larger very slowly over the last couple of years, but still caused no pain or problems.
A couple of days ago, I realized this "growth" had lost some of the fluid, and has dropped away from the cervix, causing it to prolapse. It is still attached to my cervix, and is not causing any pain, or bleeding, etc. Although it is causing an irritation to my urinary tract, and I'm concerned it will need to be removed.
Has anyone else heard of an enlarged cervical mucous gland? Has anyone ever experienced the same situation? If so, did you undergo additional tests to insure it's not cancer? Thank you, for your reply.

Hi,
I have not heard of this condition and could not find any information about it by googling.
