Anemic from menstruation???

Anemic from menstruation???

Hi,


I have a question about being anemic. My doctor said it might be from heavy bleeding during menstruastion and that I should go to my gynecologist (and a gastro).  I haven't really noticed any severe bleeding. Anybody familiar with this? How does a gynoecologist diagnose that this is where the anemia is coming from? Thanks! Kristine

I sware I get anemic from my period also! I am pale as a ghost, sometimes before, but usually during my cycle. And I also get very tired. I haven't been officially diagnosed with Anemia, but I hear it can be common around the time of the month. Just make sure to take multi-vitamins and eats some red meat as its iron packed.

It is very possible to be anemic from menstration.

As the others said, it is very possible to become anemic from heavy periods.

As I said in the "Undiagnosed Bleeding Disorders" thread, sometimes women have no idea their periods are abnormal because the other females in their family have heavy periods, so they don't have a basis for comparison.
