so, i had what i thought was a yeast infection, called the dr, they prescribed fluconazole the one day pill (150 mg) it said symptoms should be completly gone in 5 days...so today is the 5th day, and i have a very light itch, not very bad sometimes unnoticable, but sometimes it is noticable...so what's the deal? is it possible that i did not have a yeast infection or something??

Welcome to the board allie11790.

It is possible that you have a yeast infection that has not completely cleared with a single dose of medicine.

No, if the doctor diagnosed it as yeast, they SAW the yeast in the culture and that's what it is. Here is the problem with fluconazole and so many other drugs like it. They not only kill bad bacteria but they also kill your beneficial bacteria and flora which naturally fight off the yeast. Unfortunately, the bad bacteria are much more resistant than the good and develop an immunity, so after a period of time treating the yeast infection this way, all you really end up doing is wiping out the GOOD bacteria while the bad are left to leave you itching. This explains why we get "super" viruses and so many women are now suffering from chronic or recurring yeast infections. Big drug companies don't want to cure you, they want to give you band-aid solutions that keep you coming back and buying more drugs. Fortunately, there ARE natural, safe, and effective ways to eliminate yeast infections. If you want more information, feel free to click on the link in my signature line.

Have a good one,
