ovarian cysts...

Ok, so I've had, like, a lot of ovarian cysts. Can't take BC pills because of vascular probs and a strong fam. history of blood clots, so there's really nothing I can do about it. I started having weird periods (bleeding between periods, painful periods, really painful intercourse (not when we first get going, but he's um...long, and when he puts it in all the way, it really hurts, so we have to stop :( Poor guy hasn't gotten any in a while), along with just a dull ache in my belly. Went to the ER back in January, because of waaay too early bleeding and abdominal pain. They said I had an ovarian cyst, but that it would dissolve eventually. Well, it didn't, and I started feeling really nauseated a few days ago so I went to the free women's clinic here yesterday morning cause I don't have insurance. I told them about what happened in Jan. and that I've had to have a laparoscopy to remove a partially-solid cyst in 2005. They said my BP was really low (around 80/60), and that I was tachycardic (110 bpm), and looking kinda pale. While they were doing the pelvic, the nurse practitioner was palpating the right ovary, and said, "Yeah, you DO have a cyst...wow, it's really big." She turned to the nurse, saying "About 3 x 5 cm." She said, "are you in pain?" I was like, "yeah, but I can deal with it, the nausea just kinda sucks" 'cause I have fibro and chronic pain in my joints , so I'm kind of used to pain, but not nausea. She then left to talk to the main OB-Gyn who was there working on other patients (he COULD have done the pelvic, but I feel more comfortable with a female doc), she came back a few minutes later and said that I have a very large ovarian cyst about the size of an egg, and that, given my BP and heart rate, the doc said I had to go to the dreaded ER to see if it was twisted or anything, because she could tell I was in a lot of pain even though I wasn't complaining. I was sweating profusely by now, and yeah, I was in pain. So I went to the ER and waited about 4 hours before being seen (it was about 7pm by now, and I hadn't had anything to eat all day and my blood sugar was starting to bottom out), and when the doc finally came in, he was in and out in about 2 minutes, thinking that it wasn't a cyst, but appendicitis, so he ordered a CT with a buttload of contrast, and finally, around midnight (8 hours since I got there), he came back with a brilliant diagnosis of the egg-sized cyst in my right ovary, as well as 2 small ones in my left one. He discharged me with 12 lortab and told me to follow up with a gynecologist. I have an appointment next wednesday, but, honestly, I feel kinda like they gave me the shaft as far as pain control. They didn't give me ANYTHING for the pain or even the nausea in the ER, and I don't think the lortab's gonna last a week. I had a PCP until January, when my insurance ran out, but I don't know if she'll call anything in for me or even see me considering I don't have any insurance. Should I try to go back to the free clinic? I just don't want to be stuck in serious pain for 4 or 5 days until I see this new doc.

Sorry to hear you are in so much pain.
I'd say go back to the free clinic and see if you can at least get some better pain meds.
Welcome sociostudent83.
I agree that the ER didn't do that great of a job.
