Swollen vagina after sex

This will be long, bear with me please. :)
I have been sexually active with my current partner for a little less than five months. About one month into this part of our relationship, I started the BC pill Yasmin. I had been on other oral contraceptives in the past, but had not been taking anything in the year prior to this relationship (I was also not sexually active during that year). I never experienced many problems with BC pills previously...yes, they can make me a little dried out, but I was happy to have my periods on a schedule.
In the last month or so, though, I've noticed that sex has been more on the painful side...during penetration and the act itself. At first I thought it was dryness, but now I'm not so sure. I also feel and look fairly swollen/irritated for at least a day or two after sex...to the point where sitting can be a little different (not necessarily uncomfortable, just different). What might cause this?
Also, the last two times we have had sex, I have noticed a light pink color to my discharge when I went to the bathroom afterwards. So, I know something isn't right, but what could it be? Could vaginal dryness alone cause all of this? We used lubricant this last time and I still had the same problem! I have never experienced anything like this before, and we always use condoms. What gives?
Other than the fact that I should probably make an appointment with a doctor soon, what could all of this mean? I want to be prepared for what I might encounter when talking to a doctor...

From everything you described, I would think that vaginal dryness is the cause.

Hi,
While I was on Yaz and on Mircette (Kariva) I had vaginal dryness. For me it was worse with the Mircette. Now I am in peri and I have it all the time since I am not producing as much estrogen. I have dryness, itching, and burning with no other symptoms. I have been using a KY product called Liquibeads that you insert once a week or so. It is both a moisturizer and a lubricant. I really like it and the fact that it lasts for a few days.
The problem with BCPs and vaginal dryness is that it's not just a side effect of the pill or hormones. It is actually one of the ways it keeps one from getting pregnant by making the vagina an unwelcome place for sperm and making it harder for them to make that long journey so all BCPs have this action. Some may be worse than others and you may react differently to different pills, but the actions are the same--vaginal dryness and suppression of ovulation to stop unwanted pregnancy.
