Period MIA
4
Thu, 03-27-2008 - 7:08pm

I went off the pill in October. I skipped my period in November, but I had one in December. I haven't had one since December 18. I took several pregnancy tests, all negative. The doctor ordered a blood pregnancy test since I was already getting some other blood tests done. It also came up negative. The doctor didn't seem concerned and didn't volunteer any ideas as to what might be going on, nor did she say to make an appointment if I didn't start in March. Here it is almost April and I have had no symptoms of either PMS or pregnancy. I can understand missing one period due to my body adjusting to the lack of birth control, but missing four (counting November) is concerning me.

I'm a little concerned about early menopause (I'm 28) because I may have some symptoms but mainly the emotional ones, which can be attributed to lots of things. Plus, it doesn't seem like complete abrupt cessation of periods is normal even for early menopause.

What else could be going on?

Hi there,

The most common cause of missed periods is Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

Hi jtsbabygurl and welcome to the board.

From what you are saying, I think you have some very valid questions that your gyn doctor is not answering for you.
