Frequent yeast infections
| Sun, 04-13-2008 - 10:52pm |
Hey everyone I'm new here and I'm looking for some advice maybe yall can help. My 17y/o DD has been having frequent Vaginal Yeast infections for the past year and a half at least. When I say frequent I mean just about every month and some months 2xs. This can't be normal can it? We have had her blood work and urine tested 6 months ago for other reasons and their was no sign of diabetes. There not even always right before her period. She is not sexually active and doesn't wear tight clothing so we both do not know what could be causing it. She has taken the pill for it several times and it clears up but they always come back. Last night she started complaining that her lower part of her abdomen was hurting from it. I'm grateful for any advice or suggestions of what it might be.
Thanks,
Amanda

first are you 10000000% sure she is not sexually active? not to be rude but sometimes girls lie to their parents about that stuff. is she on any kind of contraceptive? some people are prone to them while on birth control.
could it be that she has a treatment resistant strain? have you brought her in for testing to make sure it is really gone and not just regressed enough that she feels no symptoms? Has a doctor diagnosed it as a yeast infection? some other types of infections mimic teh symptoms.
also if she has any sex toys, or any objects she is using as sex toys she could be giving the infection back to herself.
whatever it is I hope you get some answers (and her some relief) soon

Hi there,
What is your daughter on the pill for?
Welcome to the board Amanda.
You mention that your daugher has been to the doctor so I am going to assume that you have confirmed this is yeast she is suffering from.
