Boric acid to cure Yeast Infections

As a female with re-current yeast infections, I am always trying to find a cure. So far I have tried an oral prescription ( don't remember the name) and used OTC Vagistast-1. Both were no help. I started looking for other remedies.

I am looking for alternative cures. My gynecologist is no help. Prescription and OTC medicine has not helped at all. My partner is not enjoying our sex because he is afraid my yeast infection will continue to put me in pain or that he will get it too.

Recently, I have been reading about women using boric acid capsules and inserting into the vagina for several weeks. I wanted to know if anyone here has used this remedy before. Was it effective? How many times did you use it? Did you have recurrent yeast infections after using it? Would you recommend this remedy to other women with the same symptoms? Did your use affect your sexual partner in any way?

I've heard of it but never dared to try it, it just sounds so harsh and painful.. Although supposedly it's not.. I'm very interested to know if anyone here has tried it as well!! Have you tried yogurt yet?

This sounds very dangerous. Boric acid is an insecticide. It kills roaches and other bugs. Please don't put it inside your body in any way shape or form!

The only OTC remedy that has ever worked for me is the good ole Monistat 7 day cream. The 1 day and 3 day creams do not work for me and the oral prescription does not work for me.

Are you sure you have a yeast infection? It might be something else.

As Beck said some women do well just inserting some plain yogurt in the vagina to resore the vaginal flora, but this will only work if what you have is really a yeast infection.

I know, it does sound painful. I have been trying to find other methods besides this.

I haven't tried the yogurt idea yet. If I try it, for how long should I leave it in there? Do I need to clean myself with water afterwards?

I totally forgot those things about boric acid. Now I do remember my sister using boric acid to clean her house and wash for laundry, including to kill roaches. I definitely don't want to put my body in that kind of danger.

Yes, my gynecologist had confirmed that it was a yeast infection. I didn't think it was recurrent though. I will try that yogurt idea and the OTC Monistat. Sometimes I think it's my health; I may be diabetic for all I know.

It could be...I mean diabetics are prone to yeast infections. There is a book called the Yeast Connection that goes into detail about many alternative and prescription treatments and a special diet. I did it once when I had a horrible yeast infection that would not go away and it definitely worked. I also was taking many herbs and yogurt and herb suppositories I got from a naturopath.

I think you can leave the yogurt in--maybe overnight and then wash it out. The 7 day Monistat always works for me when I do get them, which is rare now. I seem to only get them if I have to be on a long course (10 days) of antibiotics.

You use plain, unflavored yogurt. I apply it right before bed, to be sure it stays up there, and I do it for 3-5 nights. It can be a bit messy to do but it totally works. And you can even smear it on the outside to help sooth that skin too.. There's no need to try and wash it out, it'll work it's way out on it's own. Good luck!!

I also have re-occuring yeast infections & have heard of this, but never had the guts to try it.
