red/orange menstrual bleeding

Hi! I'm a 24 year old stay at home mom to our 4 year old son. Hubby and I started trying for child number two over a year ago, but experienced 2 miscarriages (each at 10 weeks) and 3 months apart from the first miscarriage to the start of the following pregnancy. After taking a break from the heart breaking losses, we have just started trying again this past month.

I just started my period today and noticed that my blood has a bright orangish tent to it. I have seen this before during the time of my miscarriages. I was wondering if the color is something I should be concerned over? Am I missing something in my diet that may be causing a deficiency and my menstrual blood to change color? I tried to google this but only came up with information on blood oranges (the fruit) go figure!

Any ideas??

****Thanks!!****

Hi Elisabeth and welcome.

The only thing I stumbled across was that anemia (low blood iron) is a possible cause for change in color of menstrual blood.

Hi Elisabeth,

It's been a couple of years since you wrote this . . . how did everything work out for you ?? More children ??

Did you ever find out why your blood was orange ?? I'm experiencing the same thing at the moment and I'm a little concerned !!

Hi Amanda! Welcome to the board. What is going with your situation? Are you trying to conceive? Just having an off cycle? If you feel comfortable, please share what is happening. Have you talked with a doctor yet?
