10 years oh my!

So my youngest was born 10 years ago in July. That was the last time I had my annual exam/ pap done! I didn't mean to go so long. My NP retired that year and I changed to a different practice and although all the DR.s there are nice enough and I don't mind seeing them for all my other issues, I just do not feel comfortable enough with any of them to schedule an exam. After about two years I started looking for a Gynecologist, which evidently takes an act of congress! Not accepting new patients, don't accept my insurance, 1 year wait for an appointment! I didn't want one just plucked from the phone book so I asked around and got the names of all my friends gynos and for the above reasons I couldn't get in to any of them. So here I am 10 years without any gynecological care and terrified of what might be wrong with me by now. I am in the process of trying to get an appointment now but am running in to the same issues as before. I did go online to my ppo website and print a list of providers that are accepting new patients and accept my insurance, but now I just think what will they say about me going so long ! UGH! I hate this! I know I am freaking myself out but I really am truly embarrassed to walk into an exam and admit that I went so long without seeking care! I have been fortunate that all my previous exams were great, no problems at all but I am terrified that now I have something horribly wrong and because I have waited so long they wont be able to help me now. I don't really have any issues to make me think that , i just do! I still have regular periods, though on the heavy side and with a lot of cramping. Never have yeast infections, only one UTI in those 10 years. But still I am terrified due to the length of time.

Welcome to the board!
While I can't say it is great that you haven't seen the gyn in so long, chances are things will be just fine.
