Q? menstrual cycle, lump & pain

My best friend and I were recently discussing our cycles and some of the things that she told me kind of worried me! Just wondering if anyone can offer any info or suggestions, other than the obvious, she needs to take time off to see her doctor.

She is 27, has 2 children (but, she and her husband didn't use protection for years without becoming preg. and her children are over 3 years apart) Her cycles usually near 40 days apart. Sometimes more. But, what really alerted me was that she told me that while in the bathroom the other day she noticed while changing sanitary prods. that there was a "fatty" looking lumpy discharge. She has never noted this before and described it to me as looking like the fat cut from a steak (sorry if too graphic?) I have never experienced or heard of anything like this. She is relatively fit and her husband has had a vasectomy, so I'm quite sure that it would not be preg. miscarriage related.

Can anyone offer and insight?

Thanks so much in advance for any help!

Hi springforward.

If your friend's cycle is regular, it is possible for this to be considered "normal".

Menstrual disorders occur when certain factors interrupt a woman’s menstrual cycle. In normal function, the menstrual cycle lasts from 21 to 42 days. It includes the growth of the uterine lining, (endometrium) and its shedding during menstruation. Hormones in the brain and the ovaries control the menstrual cycle in women in their reproductive years. (iVillage Total Health:
