Discharge . . . Normal?

Soooo, I've had vaginal discharge since I was around ten or eleven. It varies in color and consistency, but on average it is whitish- to bright yellow and . . . well, it's hard to explain the consistency. Does anybody remember Nickelodean "Gak"? It's kinda like that, a semi-solid deposit that stretches but sticks together unless broken. That's the typical kind. It is also accompanied by a smell, which also varies. I guess you could describe it as being salty or meaty. It's not necessarily a FOUL odor, but I feel like it's really strong.

This is pretty much my life. I ALWAYS have this stuff collecting in my underwear, and sometimes I have to use extra toilet paper because there's so much collected up there that a huge glob covers the paper when I wipe. Some days I don't see anything like a solid mass, but the crotch of my underwear will be thoroughly soaked, and I sometimes develop a rash where my inner thigh meets the pubic region. Those days it smells worse, slightly like urine (I suspect an issue with my urethra in that case, but I don't know what could make it loosen every now and then but work perfectly the rest of the time).

I know it's not a yeast infection because I've been to the gyno every year since I was 17 (I am now 21) and I'm sure the doctor would have noticed a chronic illness like that by now. I'm not sure what to do; One doctor told me it was likely ovarian fluid, and that it's normal for women to experience some leakage, but if that were true, wouldn't women's panties come with thicker, padded crotches?

Welcome to the board ahlyssah.

It sounds like you may be a woman that is going to have a large amount of vaginal discharge.

Fudge! That means I'm doomed to a life of panty shields!

Thanks for the reply. It's a comfort to know it's probably not harmful.

I've had the same problem, and I totally know what it's like to have to wipe a million times. I'm glad I found your post. My doctor said I produce more bacteria than the average woman, so I'm assuming I produce more discharge than the average woman too. I have to wear pantiliners everyday. It's a bummer, but at least I know I'm not the only one.
